The Trouble with Courting

Some things never ever change. Always people think they have to create a facade in order to find their mate. In my own search for love, I have always kept this Shel Silverstein poem in mind:

"She had blue skin,
And so did he.
He kept it hid,
And so did she.
They searched for blue
Their whole life through,
Then passed right by-
And never knew."
- Shel Silverstein. 'Masks'

You can almost see Shel Silverstein giving this advice to our lonely Charles Brown here.

Charlie's reaction to Violet's request of him to "be [himself]" is met with Charlie's statement of "you girls expect too much of a guy."

Is it a lot to ask of anyone to just "be themselves?" To just trust ourselves to be unfiltered? To let fate handle who we are to fall for?

Here's a tip. I've learned that really just doing what you love, and living life, and being yourself (of course) is what really allows you to find a mate.
